TKA redesigned the nursery within the Grade II listed buildings at Coram’s Fields, Bloomsbury. The scheme provides re-planned and refurbished facilities for children and staff that include two new classrooms, new WCs, a kitchen and staff office. The re-organisation relocates the circulation ‘spine’ on to the park side, allowing direct views over the fields. A visual connection runs through the length of the building creating a sense of security and community. Bright, colourful spaces and warm materials provide a comfortable and stimulating environment for play. Expansion into the adjacent lodge allowed a new kitchen, accessible facilities and staff office. The existing Grade II listed building was renovated and enhanced as part of the ongoing project to protect and upgrade Coram’s Fields.
