The design is for a 4 bedroom new-build family house close to Ancient woodland. The concept of the house is two barn forms, linked in between for the main circulation space at ground floor with circulation and a void at first floor. One barn form has the kitchen / dining room within it at ground floor, with ancillary larder, boot room and laundry space adjacent to it. The main bedroom and bathroom suite is at first floor with an internal window overlooking the dining space. The second barn form has the main sitting room with a guest bedroom and study at ground floor and the second bedroom and mezzanine at first floor. The study mezzanine overlooks the sitting room as an open gallery. The sitting room and main first floor bedrooms have vaulted ceilings.
The construction is mainly timber for sustainability and to blend in with its woodland setting. Heating is via a heat pump with solar PV panels to provide hot water.
Planning permission was granted by Wealden District Council in April 2023. The project is now on site and due to be completed Summer 2025.
