Mews Office

The Royal College of Art face a continuing challenge of reorganising their accommodation to suit the changing needs of their staff and departments which Theis and Khan have helped them with over recent years.

This project required the refurbishment, re-planning and fitting out of the ground floor of a 19C mews building to house offices for the Helen Hamlyn Centre. Natural light was limited due to a deep plan so a single shared workspace was created front to back with ancillary spaces arranged to the side. The main room is laid out with a series of fixed desks and half height screens to create areas for concentrated work with open areas at the front and rear for more flexible use.
