This family with three boys wished to create a stylish home that would work for them all as the children grew up. External space at the entrance and garden levels was maximised by excavating and building a new extension to the side of the main house over the garage. Generous ancillary spaces for the garage, laundry, wine storage, plant and house storage allowed the principal living areas to occupy prime spaces on lower ground and ground floors.
The bedrooms are arranged on the upper two floors with bed decks for the children’s rooms built into the roof to maximise their floor area for play. The main bedroom, dressing rooms and bathrooms are at first floor. Theis and Khan worked closely with interior designer Ilse Crawford on the interior fitting and finishes.
